Paper Piecing Time with The Cat's Pajamas

 

Happy Tuesday, Friends!  It's a new month and it is time for a new TCP Tuesday Challenge!  Alma's challenge for the month is to incorporate paper piecing into your design.  I love to paper piece!  It is one of my favorite techniques.  To play along, please visit ALMA'S BLOG. 

 

September brings about a lot of birthdays between family and friends, so I had our three little penguin friends from The Cat's Pajamas bring some birthday wishes with them this time around.  The main image is from the TCP Ship Happens set and the sentiment is from the TCP Birthday Bunny set.  Along with the paper piecing, I used a few Copic Markers (BG01, BG53, C1, C3, YG63, YG67, YR20, and YR21) on the image and the sentiment is stamped with Memento Paris Dusk ink.  I also used a few of the TCP CutUps on my card.  The background was made with the new Chevron CutUps die.  The clouds were made with the Cloud Border CutUps die and some TCP Felt.  Then I used the Buttons CutUps die for the button and I threaded it with some TCP Blueberry Divine Twine.  My other accent is that beautiful TCP Aqua Seam Binding.  All of the patterned papers are from different collections from Jillibean Soup.

You Make My Flowers Bloom!

 

Happy Tuesday, Friends! I'm back with a creation for this month's TCP Tuesday Challenge. The challenge this month is Flowers. There is still time to play, so be sure to head on over to Alma's blog for all of the details.

 

  

Time seems to be just flying by...I'm getting old...lol!  We have eight full weeks of school left, so I have been very busy with my children (my own and all of the sweeties at school) and all kinds of different activies.  It was so nice to sit down this past week and create this card.  Card making is so relaxing for me and that is just what I need right now!

 

It may be hard to tell in the photograph, but to make the polka dotted blossoms on this card, I used the TCP Flower Button CutUps to create a stencil with the black layer and then I put a layer of the polka dotted paper behind the stencil.  I added some red flower die cuts and buttons to each blossom.  My other accents include the a die cut made with the Queen of Hearts CutUps and the sentiment from the TCP Bloom set.

TCP Tuesday!!!

 

Hello Friends!  Spring has sprung here in New England and this month's challenge from The Cat's Pajamas is FLOWERS!  To play along, please head over to Alma's Blog for the link. 

 

 

I paired some of the sayings from the newly released Words of Love set with the Sunflower Rosette CutUps from The Cat's Pajamas.  I used some polka dotted paper from Jillibean Soup and the card stock is from scraps.  The sentiment is stamped with Memento ink.  My other accents include brown buttons with craft thread, a few different sized pearls, and some machine stitching.   

 

My heart is full and my mind is still trying to put together all of the events that have happened in the last week here in the Boston area.  I'm not an eloquent writer when it comes to things that touch me on such an emotional level.  I wish that I could write more, but I am just not able to.  With that being said, I will continue to pray because that's what I do and that is what helps me the most.  Thank you for stopping by for a visit.  Have a beautiful day!  Until next time...Toodles!  :D

The Cat's Pajamas Release Day and Blog Hop!!!

Good Morning, Friends! It is Blog Hop Day for the new release from The Cat's Pajamas. All of the new stamps and dies that the Cat Pack has been sharing over the last week are now available!!  Hopefully, you found your way here by Noelle's Blog. My card for release day is from the new set called, Sock Monkey.  How cute is this little guy!  I colored him up with Copic Markers (C1, C1, C3, R27, R29, and R59) and then I fussy cut him out.  The sentiment is from the same set.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye (woodgrain) and Jillibean Soup (polka dots).  I added some zigzag stitching and then I dressed up the corner with a cluster of buttons that I finished off with some Black Licorice Divine Twine.

You've Got Mail

 

Hello Friends!  Hope that you are well.  No, you are not looking at the same post as yesterday.  I made two separate cards...honest!  The papers were already cut and I had made a few extra die cuts with the scraps, so I decided to use them all over again.  I even used a similar layout. 

 

This time around, I used the My Favorite Things Pure Innocence You've Got Mail set.  The images are colored up with Copic Markers (BG01, BG05, C3, C5, E000, E00, E01, E23, E27, R00,R29, YG63, YG67) and then I fussy cut them out.  I paper pieced a tiny bit of the polka dotted paper onto her pockets.  The patterned papers are from Jillibean Soup and My Mind's Eye.  The blossom is made with the MFT Pretty Posies Die-namics.  I added a button from my stash and some craft twine.  I also used the MFT Little Open Scallop Strip Die-namics and the Fishtail Flag Die-namics.  Before I glued up all of my layers, I added a little bit of machine stitching.

 

I made this card for the Splitcoaststampers Love Fest.  This particular card is for the My Favorite Things Challenge - Make My Day.  The Ladies over at MFT are challenging you to make an encouraging card for the person of your choice.  It will be a challenge for me to make sure that this gets to the post office and mailed out...lol!  Maybe it will end up in your mailbox!  You never know.

You Are Pretty Amazing

 

Happy Friday Friends!  Here comes the weekend!  Are you ready for it?  I know that in the New England area, we are getting more of fluffy stuff.  I see some sledding in my near future! 

 

Even though we are still in winter, I am turning my creative thoughts to spring.  I picked up these fun Jillibean Soup papers in last weekend's snow storm (I am a New England girl with all wheel drive, so when I want some new papers, whether it is snowing or not...I'm getting some new papers...lol!)

 

I used the latest sketch from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club for my starting off point.  Then I grabbed a sentiment from the MFT Complimentary Greetings set, and I got to work.  After digging through my MFT Die-namics collection, I decided to go with the Little Open Scallop Strip die, the Layered Label dies, and their Pretty Posies dies.  A little bit of craft twine and a button from my stash finishes off this card.

Getting Sketchy!

Happy Sunday Stampers! I hope that your weekend was a good one! It was very quiet here and I love it that way! Once the cleaning was done and everyone's homework was done, it was time for Mumma to get some stamping done!

I made this card for this week's sketch from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club. You can find the sketch on the MFT Blog if you'd like to play along too. Oh, and speaking of the MFT Blog, have you seen their new blog and website design? It looks absolutely wonderful!

Okay, back to my card. I picked up these canvas tags at the stamping store last week and I thought that they would be perfect for this sketch. I stamped a sentiment from the MFT All Smiles set and added a Papertrey Ink button and some craft thread from the Paper Source. The Martha Stewart Chocolate Twill is from Michaels and all of the patterned papers are from Jillibean Soup.

Let's Fly Away!

Happy Friday Friends! Hope that you all had a great week! It's been raining for a couple of days here in New England (hence the darker photographs from that last few posts), but we've still been able to accomplish quite a bit around the house.

My card for today is for this week's Blogger's Challenge (theme...travel) and for the TCP Tuesday Challenge (make a rolled rose out of seam binding.) If you would like to play along with these challenges, just click on the colored words for the links. I have been wanting to use this adorable bunny from the Take Off set from The Cat's Pajamas for awhile now and the travel theme was the perfect excuse. I colored him up with Copic Markers (BG000, C1, C2, YG25, YR12, and YR16) and I paper pieced part of his plane. All of the patterned papers are from Jillibean Soup. The clouds were made with the Cloud Border CutUps from TCP and I used some Mango Seam Binding from TCP too. I {heart} the way that the seam binding rose turned out. It was easy to do and I really like how it seems to tie the bow together. Alma has a tutorial to make the blossoms on her blog if you'd like to give it a try. (Just click on the link above.)

Right At Home Scrapbooking Store Creations!

Hello Friends! I have a little project and some cards that I made for Right at Home Scrapbooking store. This month, I used some wonderful papers from Jillibean Soup and this fun set called Sweet Celebration Birthday from Unity Stamp Company. I also used lots of Die-namics from My Favorite Things. My first little project is a birthday bag. You can find the directions for this bag right here on Splitcoaststampers. For the bottom of the bag, I used the MFT Die-namics Double Scallop Border die. This wonderful cake is colored up with Copic Markers (R29, RV11, Y11, and YR12) and then layered onto a die cut shape made with the MFT Die-namics Textile Rectangle die.


This card card uses this sweet little cupcake found in the Unity set and some more Jillibean Soup papers. I also used some Kraft card stock and some wonderful cream colored seam binding. Lisa has some at the store and it is just heavenly to work with! My little tag was made with the new MFT Die-namics Notched Tag die. This was a great way to add the sentiment to the card.

Earlier this month, I posted a little sewing tutorial and showed a finished flowered panel. I actually made two panels. I used the smaller one on this card and the larger panel on the card below. I paper pieced this giant cupcake and watercolored the icing. The layout comes from an older sketch from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club. I added lots MFT Die-namics to this card too. This time around, I used the Dizzy Doily Die-namics and the Little Open Scallop Strip Die-namics. Again, I added the Notched Tag die and I used the sweet little heart and sentiment that comes along with the set.


My last card uses a sentiment from the same Unity set and some more Jillibean Soup papers. This layout is also an older MFT sketch from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club. I had a ball with some more MFT Die-namics. For this card, I used the Die-namics Layered Label Die, the Die-namics Simply Scallops die, and the blossom was made with the Die-namics Pretty Posies die. I added a little button to the center with a piece of craft thread to finish this one off.

My Favorite Things Meets The Cat's Pajama's

Happy Monday Friends! I hope that your start to the work week was a great one! I have two cards to share with you today. They are for two of my favorite weekly challenges. The first card up is for the sketch for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club. You can find all of the details to play along here. I have had this little Pure Innocence cutie since her April release and decided that it was high time that she be introduced to some ink! She is from the MFT Crazy for Daisies set and she's colored up with Copic Markers (B00, B12, B14, BG000, C1, E000, E00, E01, E11, E25, E29, R20, Y32, Y35, YG13, YG63, and the Colorless Blender.) The patterned paper is from Sweetwater and I have had it FOREVER! I thought that it was time to finally put it to good use. It is accented with black card stock layers. I also did some machine stitching and I added some May Arts ribbon with a PTI button and some TCP Divine Twine. The bottom is finished off with the MFT Die-namics Double Scallop Border.

My next card is for the TCP Tuesday Challenge and this week, we need to use fabric. You can find all of the details right here. I used Jen Del Muro's June Sketch For You To Try for my layout. I stamped Big Bear on an old gingham shirt with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Then I cut him out. I also stamped him onto a sheet of card stock. I colored up his ears, nose area, and feet pads with E40 and then cut those out and glued them to the shirt fabric. He is layered onto some Jillibean Soup papers and the MFT Die-namics Dainty Doily Die is made from Chocolate Chip card stock. The sentiment is from TCP's Like You A Latte set. I used some more of the shirt and a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock for the button accent that I made with the TCP Button CutUps. Some Baker's Twine and a touch of faux stitching finish this one off.

I'd like to leave you this evening with a special photograph. On Saturday, I had the pleasure of meeting some "Stamping Royalty". My delightful friend, Linda Monroe and I headed into Boston to become "Copic Certified". The class was taught by two very lovely and talented ladies...Lori Craig and Debbie Olson! I was lucky enough to be sitting next to the very sweet and talented Joanne Basile! What a FABULOUS day!! Just in case you were wondering...Linda is the one with the pretty purple glasses. Lori is the tall blonde. Debbie is the tall brunette. Joanne has the pretty green top, and I'm the short one in the middle...lol! Thank you for visiting with me...Toodles! :D

I Love Fred Bear!

Happy Monday Friends! I hope that you enjoyed your weekend. If you dropped by yesterday, then you knew that I'd be back today with something crafty. After school, I finished up my card for Sketch #18 from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club. You can find the sketch and all of the details to play along right here. I started off with Fred Bear and the Butterfly and I colored him up with Copic Markers (E30, E31, E33, Y21, Y32, YG13, YG17, and YR18.) I love my MFT a la modes and Pure Innocence girls, but Fred Bear is so sweet too. He is layered onto some Jillibean Soup papers and the MFT Die-namics Dainty Doily Die. In fact, all of the patterned papers that I used today are from Jillibean Soup. My other accents include some Making Memories brads and some sewing machine stitching. Short and sweet for today! Two Cards to Share!

Happy Monday Friends! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend! If you stopped by on Friday, then you already know that I had the opportunity to meet Kim from My Favorite Things stamps and Alma from The Cat's Pajamas rubber stamps. These two lovely Ladies offered make and takes at Right at Home Scrapbooking store. I was in the group that worked with the upcoming release (this evening) from The Cat's Pajamas...so ADORABLE! The new release from My Favorite Things (April 5th, I think) is just around the corner, and I was lucky enough to sneak a peek at what's to come. You definitely won't be disappointed! I have two cards to share with you tonight. The first card is for the Inspiration Challenge over on Alma's blog. You can find all of the details here. I loved all of the pinks in the photographs. So sweet! That inspired me to pull out some papers from My Mind's Eye and I went from there. This delightful little bear is from the soon to be released set, What a Blast from The Cat's Pajamas. When I say soon, I mean tonight...lol! You can head over to the release party over at Splitcoaststampers right here. My little bear is colored up with Copic Markers (BG02, E11, E15, E17, R22, and R24) and I used some coordinating papers on his pinwheel. The little clouds and sentiment are from the same set. I added some Cotton Candy Divine Twine (in Jackie Pedro style) and a button from Papertrey Ink. The grass was made with the MFT Die-namics Fresh Cut Grass die and some Certainly Celery card stock. A little bit of sewing around the main panel finishes off the creation. My next card is for the sketch for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club. You can find the sketch here. This sweet little Pure Innocence girl is from the MFT set Something Special Just For You. She is colored up with Copic Markers (B12, B14, BG000, C0, E00, E01, E11, E25, E27, E40, Y11, Y21, YG11, YG13, and the Colorless Blender) and her dress is paper pieced. I've had this sweetie in my stamp collection for quite some time now and for some reason she hadn't been introduced to any ink, so I'm going to include this in Jessie's Forgotten Stamp Friday challenge too. All of the patterned papers for this one are from the Spotted Owl Soup collection from Jillibean Soup. I added the MFT Die-namics Hearts-a-Plenty die and the Die-namics Little Open Scallop Strip. The Dark Chocolate and the Lemon Tart card stock are from Papertrey Ink, along with the button and the Baker's Twine. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit with me this evening. My First Cat's Pajamas Card!

Happy Tuesday! If you stopped by yesterday, I mentioned that I picked up some new stamps on Sunday. My new stamps are my very first set from The Cat's Pajamas!! This won't be my last set either! I love this trio of penguins and all of their fun antics. This set is called, Ship Happens. Along with these penguins, the set includes three fun and sassy sentiments. I stuck with just the image for this card though. My design is based on Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. You can find it here to play along too.

All of the patterned papers are from Jillibean Soup including the sweet flowered print that I paper pieced onto the tea cup. The ribbon and buttons are from American Crafts. The Basic Black card base and Cool Caribbean layer are from Stampin' Up. I needed to use a few Copic Markers (BG000, C1, C3, E31, E35, Y21, Y32, YG11, YG13, and YR16) for some of the little details on these guys and then I cut them out with my circle and scalloped Nesties. Nothing too fancy or fabulous, but I'm happy with how it all turned out! I'm looking forward to playing with this set a bit more.
