Spring is in the Air

Happy Tuesday, Friends!  I hope that you are well.  We are under a blanket of SNOW in this part of New England.  Since the new year began, we have missed five days of school.  In fact, last Friday, we were going to start school two hours late.  Just as we were about to head out the door, we received a telephone call that the buses would not start and school would be cancelled...ugh!  Everything is so pretty with the snow though.  We went to Old Sturbridge Village on Sunday to walk around and go sledding.  It was so much fun!  A great way to spend a winter's day.  Even though we are as the saying goes, "Spring is in the air" and Kelli Jo is the hostess for this week's TCP Tuesday Challenge called Spring Time.  If you play along and upload your creation over on The Cat's Pajamas Blog, you will have a chance to win $10 in Cat Cash and you will also have a chance to be this month's Swanky Stamper of the Month.  You can find all of the details HERE.

My card is playing double duty today.  Splitcoaststampers is celebrating their Member Companies during their annual Love Fest.  Today is the day to celebrate...THE CAT'S PAJAMAS!!!  Your challenge is to use the photograph above as inspiration to create a project.  It goes perfectly with Kelli's Spring Time challenge too.  This is what I came up with.

I was really inspired by the colors in the photographs and I was able to keep with the birdhouse and springtime theme.  The papers are from Simple Stories (pink) and My Mind's Eye (green stripe).  I used the TCP Apron Border CutUps because the loops reminded me of the intricate iron work on the gate.  I also used the Framed Up CutUps and the Home Tweet Home CutUps.  The tree branch (colored up with Copic Markers E23 and YG 25) is from the TCP The Tweetest Things set and the sentiment is from the Field of Pinwheels set.  I added a teeny piece of Black Licorice Divine Twine to finish this springtime creation off.

Here are all of the details about the SCS LOVE FEST for you.  I hope that you have lots of fun creating!  Good Luck!

THE CAT'S PAJAMAS LOVEFEST CHALLENGE : We have put together 3 photos for you to use as inspiration for your project (see the photo above). You may be inspired by the color palette, the garden theme, the design elements such as the wrought iron gate, the birdhouses, trees, flowers, by the patterns within the birdhouses, etc. It’s all about what you see in the photos! It is not a requirement to use a TCP stamp or die but if you have them we would love to see them.
There is a $25 gift certificate to The Cat’s Pajamas store up for grabs.

You'll have until Monday, March 3rd at noon Central to share your challenge entries. Upload your creations (they don't have to be cards!) to your Member Gallery and use today's keyword to play along.
We can't wait to see what you do!

  UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS on SCS:

TCP Tuesday!!!

Happy Tuesday, Friends!  I am back this week with another card for this month's TCP Tuesday Challenge.  Alma's challenge is to create a card that will fit in a legal sized envelope.  It can be a long card like the one that I made last Tuesday or it can be a tall card like the one I've created for today.  Please head on over to Alma's Blog for all of the details to play along and have the chance to be the next Swanky Stamper of the Month.

I had a lot of fun with my favorite long eared friend from the Kick Some Grass set from The Cat's Pajamas.  He is colored up with Copic Markers (BG13, BG53, E41, E42, G24, R20, and R22) and then I carefully cut him out.  The sentiment is from the TCP set, Bearing Flowers.  My other accents include the Heart Swirl CutUps, the Flower Button CutUps, and the Apron CutUps.  I also added some machine stitching.  These beautiful papers are from Simple Stories and I used Kraft colored card stock.

Thank you so much for visiting with me today.  I have two weeks left and then it is back to school for me.  I'm very excited because I will be starting a new job!  I am heading back to the school district where I live (I'll literally have a three minute commute) and I am the new First Grade Title One Teacher!!!  I am beyond thrilled!  Last year, I was the K-2 Math Specialist for a district a few towns over, and I loved it, but I am going to LOVE working with my former colleagues again!  I've missed them so much.  Until next time...Toodles!  :D

Sweet Sunday Sketch!

Happy Monday Friends!  I had the day off from school, so I squeezed in a little stamping time.  Over the weekend, I visited my sweet Blogging friend, Nancy Thomas' blog.  She used a wonderful Stampavie stamp on one of her beautiful cards and she inspired me to dig through my Stampavie collection.  I found this adorable birthday mouse from the Tina Wenke collection and decided that it was time to ink him up!  I used my Copic Markers (B23, B24, C1, C3, E11, E13, E15,G82, G94, R00, RV11, RV13, Y38, YR20, YR21, and the Colorless Blender) to color him up and then I fussy cut him up.  My other details include the Circle STAX Die-namics from My Favorite Things, the Fishtail Flag Die-namics from MFT, the Sentimental Strip Die-namics from MFT with a sentiment from an MFT Pure Innocence set, a button from my stash, some Shore Baker's Twine from MFT, the Seeing Spots embossing folder, and some machine stitching.  The patterned papers are from A Muse (gingham) and Simple Stories (green polka dot).

I visited Karen Giron's blog to sneak a peek at her Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and this week's sketch was just perfect for my image, so I used that for this creation.

Thank you for visiting with me tonight.  Have a terrific Tuesday!  Until next time...Toodles!  :D

My Favorite Things Sketches

Hello Friends!  As I said in my last post, things have been quite busy here this week.  In fact, things have been so busy that I had my card finished for last week’s sketch from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club, and I didn’t have a chance to post it…ugh!  I had a little time today to work on this week’s sketch, so I thought that I’d post both cards together.  Here is the card for last week’s sketch.

I used the My Favorite Things Pure Innocence Freckles set.  She is colored up with Copic Markers (B0000, B21, B34, E000, E00, E01, E23, E25, E40, R11, R29, and R39) and paper pieced with some prints from the Summer Fresh collection from Simple Stories.  In fact, all of the patterned papers are from that collection.  The blossom was made with the MFT Botanical Beauty Die-namics and for the leaves, I used the MFT Vintage Flourish Die-namics.  I dressed up the center of the flower and the sentiment flag with some Papertrey Ink Buttons and Baker’s Twine.  A little bit of sewing finishes off the main panel.  Now for this week’s sketch.

This card is for my dear husband.  I used my friend, Fred Bear on this one.  He is colored up with Copic Markers (E31, E33, E35, G07, R11, and Y21) and fussy cut out.  The sentiment and this Fred image are from the Fred Bear and the Pinwheel set from My Favorite Things.  I made the pinwheel with the Pinwheels CutUps from The Cat’s Pajamas.  All of the patterned papers are from My Little Shoebox.  My accents include Papertrey Ink Buttons and Baker's Twine, May Arts Polka Dotted Ribbon, and the Little Open Scallop Strip Die-namics from My Favorite Things.  If you would like to play along with this sketch, you can find all of the details to do so on the My Favorite Things blog.  Here is the link.
Thanks so much for visiting with me this evening!  I hope that you had a terrific weekend.  I'll be back soon.  Until next time...Toodles!  :D

Thankful For You!

Hello again Friends!  I finished up my card for the sketch challenge from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club this morning, so I thought that I'd quickly post it.  You can find all of the details to play along on the My Favorite Things Blog.

I started off with this summery Pure Innocence image from the MFT Feeling Froggy set.  She and her sidekick are colored up with Copic Markers (B21, B23, B24, B26, C5, E000, E00, E01, E23, E25, R11, R24, R27, Y38, YG45, and the Colorless Blender) and then I fussy cut them out.  All of the patterned papers are from the Summer Fresh collection from Simple Stories.  The sentiment is from the MFT Pure Innocence Pumpkin Patch Girl set and my polka dotted sun was made with the MFT Sunshine Die-namics.  My accents include navy card stock and navy grosgrain ribbon, a wooden button with some blue Baker's Twine, and a little bit of machine stitching.

This was a fun sketch to work with.  I liked all of the panels.  I'm glad that you could stop by for a visit.  Summer is in full swing here in New England!  I hope that you have a chance to enjoy some of this beautiful weekend.  Until next time...Toodles!  :D

My Favorite Things Sketch!

Hello Friends! I have a quick post for you this evening. I've been a little beneath the weather. In fact, I missed school today, and I'm trying to rest up tonight because I am going to the New England Kindergarten Teachers Conference tomorrow. Here is my card for the sketch from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club.

I used some papers from Simple Stories. I just love the plaid and the polka dots together! The sentiment and the die cut are from the My Favorite Things Die-namics Framed Greetings Die and Stamp Set. The buttons were made with The Cat's Pajamas Buttons CutUps. Some burgandy craft thread and a bit of machine stitching finish off my card. Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit. Enjoy the rest of your evening...Toodles! :D
